Clipboard History by Chris Handley

Clipboard History is a set of macros for Macro5 that will automatically keep a record of the last few items you had in the clipboard.

Unlike similar programs for EPOC, it does not require you to switch between different clipboards, so that you can forget about Clipboard History until you actually need to paste from an older clipboard.

This update is a major rewrite to support embedded objects & text formatting, as well as implementing a number of additional features, and generally polishing it. Installation is also a little easier.

Features

The main features of Clipboard History are:

  • You can set how large the clipboard history is. It may even be larger than would fit on one screen.
  • Cut/Copy/Paste are fast no matter how large the history is.
  • The history may be edited without any restrictions.
  • There is a Pop feature, so you can treat the history like a stack of paper.
  • Works on any Psion.

Limitations

Clipboard History inherits a few limitation of Macro5 & OPL:

  • It only works when the you Copy or Cut using the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl-C or Ctrl-X; it does not work if you use the Copy or Cut menu items. There is optional support for the clipboard silkscreen 'button' (below the menu 'button') which replaces the Cut/Copy/Paste pop-up menu.
  • The clipboard history only shows entries as plain text. with embedded objects represented by a special character, even though they will be pasted correctly.
  • Edited clipboard items are limited to 255 characters in length, and will become just plain text (i.e. all embedded objects & text formatting is lost).

If you are programmer, you will be pleased to know that the source code is provided under the GNU GPL license.
